From Nierstein am Rhein you hike through the vineyards ‘Roter Hang’ to the ‘Schönsten Weinsicht 2012 Rheinhessen’. You can expect romantic vineyards with a view over the Rhine and the skyline of Frankfurt on the horizon.
From the market square, walk along Karolingerstraße to the Karolingerstraße-An der Bergkirche intersection. Start the wine hike straight ahead in Karolingerstraße, past the Heise winery. Or take a short detour at this intersection via the church in the street ‘An der Bergkirche’ – behind the church is Station 1 of the ‘Roter Hang’ hiking trail ‘Coastal View’.
Behind the church, follow the red signs saying ‘Weinerlebnis Roter Hang’. This trail is also marked with large flags.
Station 5 is the Humboldt view over the Rhine. Then we circle a valley with vineyards and get to the viewing platform ‘Most beautiful Weinsicht Rheinhessen 2012’. The view is really worth it – you can even see the skyline of Frankfurt on the Horizon.
There are several routes through the vineyards – take the same route back – or one of the other routes. For example, you can go down the valley that you have lapped around and take the hiking trail below back to Nierstein.
