With 39 gold, 33 silver and 2 trophies for Styria, it is the most successful participation in the international wine competition to date.
Graz / Austria (OTS) – The Styrian winegrowers prove their skills every year at the international wine competition Concours Mondial du Sauvignon.
72 medals and two trophies go to Styria this year. Styria is number one in the country ranking, if you look at the proportion of excellent wines in relation to the samples submitted.
From 18.-19. March, the Torres Vedras Wine Region, in the heart of the Lisbon region, was the scene of the blind tastings. 1120 wines from 23 countries were submitted to the Concours Mondial du Sauvignon 2022, 167 of which were Styrian Sauvignon Blancs. With 72 medals, Styria (Austria) got the highest percentage of medals per submitted wine. Over 40% of the submitted wines were awarded gold or silver. In comparison, France is at 26%. With 75 medals (72 of them from Styria), Austria is in second place in the medal rankings, after France. More information at www.steiermark.wine/events
